Dear OG Premier Members, Associates & Friends
Foremost, we would love if you could please help us select the covers for OG 67 – our first edition for the new year! http://www.ogsociety.org/covers/og67vote.html Thank you
Now, we have three important announcements - first the Big one!
We are pleased to announce "BIG ACE - the Bears, Ice, Glaciers, Arctic Climate Expedition" scheduled for June of 2025 to celebrate the lifetime achievements of Dr Sylvia Earle. 2025 is Sylvia’s 90th birthday year. For BIG ACE, we plan to assemble 110 global citizens on a mission to the Arctic, the frontline of climate change. Each participant will use their SUPERPOWERS to be a VOICE for the imperilled polar bears, walruses, Ivory gulls, puffins, glaciers, and sea ice threatened by climate change.
All members of this elite team will become ambassadors for the fragile Arctic Wilderness. We encourage individuals and corporations to seize this opportunity to make a momentous difference to preserve the Arctic, to save a habitable planet for future generations. You can be a catylist for change - a Changmanker! Find out more in our next edition – if you would like to be the first to know , find out here.
2nd Announcement - the OG Picoty Photo and Video competition is on again and open for entry. Register before 14th Dec for the Earlybird Special. You have until 31st January to upload your entries. Head to www.ogpicoty.com for info or to register to enter
3rd Big announcement – we are growing, we are evolving. An OG APP is in final development. This is specially created for those who prefer to read OG on a mobile phone or iPad. It will be available on iOS and Android. Of course, we will still retain our digital URL PDF/Flipbook edition. We aim to launch the OG APP on 1 January.
December is the month to plan for next year's diving adventures and exploration – for those who love sharks and mantas, our sharks-focused expedition to the Southern Atolls of the Maldives from 3 to 10 March is a must-go! Tigers, Silver-tips, Threshers, Oceanic Black-tips, mantas and more. In our 2022 expedition to the same area, we encountered nine shark species. It is also the region with the healthiest coral reefs in the Indian Ocean. Few spots remaining – sign up now.
Of course, we are super excited for our brand-new expedition to the Azores - the promise of hundreds of giant Sickle-fin Mobula rays, Blue and Yellowfins tunas, sea lions, Blue sharks, and whale sharks in bait balls and if the stars are aligned, encounter with Sperm and Fin whales are not uncommon. Find out more.
Next February is special – for the enthusiasts of blackwater and macro underwater photography, we have organised the Dancing in the Dark - A Black Water Photographic Week - a comprehensive and engaging event for photographers seeking to elevate their skills and capture the enchanting beauty of the blackwater world.’ Your successful pictures taken during this week will be published in the Small Exotic Animal edition of Ocean Geographic.
