Imagine descending into cobalt blue as silver bait balls spiral in tight formation — dolphins slicing through them, tunas accelerating like torpedoes, mobulas banking in formation, blue sharks materialising from the depths. On fortunate days, sperm whales and fin whales patrol the deep ocean corridors.

Strategically positioned in the mid-Atlantic, the Azores archipelago sits along powerful migratory routes where warm currents meet nutrient-rich upwellings — creating a magnet for pelagic giants.
July is prime season. From July through October, Santa Maria becomes one of the world’s most reliable destinations for giant mobulas. Offshore visibility ranges from 35–50 metres, offering exceptional opportunities for wide-angle photography and filming.
Faial delivers thrilling encounters with blue sharks in crystalline blue water. Santa Maria offers bait balls, mobulas, tunas, dolphins, reef dives and the constant possibility of whales offshore.
