Dear OG Associates & Premiere Members
*Here is a sneak preview of a selection of covers for OG edition NO 65; we appreciate your VOTE. Thank you.
Preparing the 3rd quarter edition of Ocean Geographic has been our favourite time of the year for two reasons. One, we are venturing into a new year – our 17th since we launch the first edition in July of 2007. While many publications have vanished, we are still here both in print and digital. But we aim to evolve with the changes of time, and we will. You will be the first to know in the coming months.
We are super thankful for your support – we are still here because of you, and we remain in existence because of your passion for our ocean. We are forever grateful, especially to our founding supporters Rolex and SEACAM.
Secondly, we are super excited for our 3rd quarter edition because we get to publish some of the Best and most important pictures of the ocean – the winners of OG Pictures of the Year 2023. There are many surprises this year and I am sure the winning picture of the Sylvia Earle Award of Excellence for Conservation and the winning picture of the Pascal Lecocq Award of Excellence for Creative Vision will stir your senses! Be the first to see all the winners at www.ogpicoty.com and help vote for the Master of Competition – the prize is a trip to the Arctic sponsored by Aurora Expeditions at www.ogsociety.org. ( If you are a photographer/film maker, don't forget to enter next years competition. You can register your interest to receive info when entry opens if you are not already on our OGPicoty list)
On this note, through our partnership arrangement, Ocean Geographic members will receive a special member ‘privileges’ package on all departures with Aurora’s expeditions. Bookings and enquiries via Ocean Geographic. Email us to find out.
Exciting news for our intrepid expedition members, we are venturing into the Azores in September 2024 – expect to interact with Blue sharks, giant Mobulas, and bait balls in one of the last remaining pristine blue wilderness. We are also applying for a permit to interact with sperm whales. We have not advertised this expedition yet and spots are limited. Email us if you’re interested.
Few spots remain for our amazing mantas phenomenon this September - when the stars, sun, and moon are aligned, a vortex of up to 200 mantas…whale sharks hang on the surface to feast on the broth of living wriggling planktons. Email us to book.
The world premiere exhibition of our Antarctic Climate Expedition is scheduled to open on 23 June 2023 at the CDL Green Gallery, Singapore Botanical Garden. If you are in Singapore, please join us for the official opening – by invitation only. We hope to see you there.
Have a Happy Summer and for those in the Southern Hemisphere, happy Winter
Michael
