Help us choose the next cover for Ocean Geographic OG 58 ( see link at end of mail below)
Dear OG members & friends
“February 2023 will be a moment in time of a gathering of great minds for commitments to resolve what it takes, to move from where we are now to get to a better future. This can be Your Legacy…” Dr. Sylvia Earle
I trust this finds you happy and well. After a year of planning, we are ready to launch the most important expedition of the 21st century – it is an expedition like no other! As we now know more than ever before, the climate crisis affects everything we care about: our health, our security, our economy, our very existence. As Antarctica, has a major role in shaping Earth's climate, February of 2023, is our Antarctic Climate Expedition (ACE).
With Dr. Sylvia Earle as chief, Ocean Geographic, Aurora Expeditions, Mission Blue, invite everyone to be a part of a brain trust assembled from all over the world; those who have talents in science, art, economics, those who care about what is possible to do right now and are willing to take their mighty powers, to move from where we are to get to a better place concerning our influence on global climate. The principal expedition team for this most important climate summit will be comprised of conservationists, celebrities, and ocean luminaries.
The mission of ACE is to confront the consequences of the climate crisis and develop creative strategies for everyone to radically reduce carbon emissions. Expedition members are expected to help formulate 23 resolutions to inspire transformative changes for global net-zero emissions by 2050. View invitation and information. The cover line for the next edition of Ocean Geographic is a question from Dr Sylvia Earle “Look into the Mirror, find out who you are…” ACE could be your legacy. We hope you will join us.
We are super excited with the main features in the forthcoming edition; revealing nature’s spies in the sky for protection of our ocean, is Cheryl Lyn Dybas’s - “Police with Feathers”. While Dr. Paul Muir shed light on Amazing Acropora – the key species of coral reefs, Dr. Lindsey Dougherty investigates threats to the megafaunas of the Maldives.
Meanwhile, as dive tourism serve as a deterrent to illegal fishing and help support local economy, many of us are starting to travel again…albeit with safe protocol. There are few spots remaining on our Tigers, Hammerheads and dolphins Bahamas trip in Dec 2021 and if you are into the megafauna ie big animals – check out our Maldives Southern Atolls expedition for next March.
